Things to Do in Korea
Whether moving to Korea or simply taking a South Korean vacation, the first stop will likely be to Seoul. Don't let one of the world's largest cities be too overwhelming. Enjoy a walking holiday and stroll over to Namsan. In Korean the suffix "san" means mountain. Namsan is a relatively easy mountain to climb, and good for the first mountain of the Asian hiking holiday. Like most mountains in Korea, it has stairs that aid any climber and hiker. The peak is 262-meters and at the top is a treat. Though there are great views of Seoul from the top, hikers can go even higher in N Seoul Tower, and observation deck which is about 236-meters high. From the top, an entire panorama of Seoul can be seen.
Asia Hiking
A few hours south is a mountain that offers some of the most beautiful views in the entire country. Jirisan is considered one of the three most important mountains in the country. This mountain is considerably more difficult to climb, and might be too difficult for those that are on the beginner's end for a hiking holiday. Putting in the effort and making it to the 1915-meter peak will be remembered as one of the best things to do in Korea. There are many different trails to the top, but Jirisan is best known for its three-day, two-night trail. At the peak, hikers are above the cloud line, and it can look like a sea of clouds from the top.
Hiking Trek
The final mountain of the hiking trek is Seoraksan in the East. It is the third-highest mountain in the country, and the best known. The peak is 1,708-meters and is visited by thousands every year. One former Major League Baseball player, Hee Seop Choi, even used Seoraksan as his training ground when conditioning after he came back to Korea to play.
There are so many things to do in Korea. Cities like Seoul and Busan offer history, shopping, and the vibe of any international city. To experience Korea's unique offerings, though, make sure to schedule at least some time as a walking holiday, or a hiking trek, and see some of the mountains. These three will give different perspectives of the beautiful landscape of the land of the morning calm.
